State gives Baltic money for Brickyard Road

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Brett Hillyer, R-Uhrichsville, said that on Monday, the State Controlling Board approved the release of $258,000 for roadwork improvements in Baltic.

Roadwork Development Grants are awarded for public roadwork improvements that support the expansion or attraction of businesses. Eligible costs include widening, paving, road construction and reconstruction, and right-of-way infrastructure improvements such as sewer or utility lines.

This allocation will be used to complete a 1,200-foot reconstruction of Brickyard Road. The old road will be removed and replaced with a new surface.

“Well maintained roadways will lead to more accessibility throughout our communities thus increasing economic accessibility throughout the 98th District,” Hillyer said.

Tuscarawas County Treasurer Jeffery S. Mamarella said that all second-half tax bills for real estate and manufactured homes have been mailed and are due by July 15.

Payment may be mailed to the Tuscarawas County Treasurer’s Office at 125 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, OH 44663. There is a drive-thru window open for payment convenience. There is also a drop box on First Drive NE approximately 20 yards past the County Office Building where payment can be made 24 hours each day. Payments can be made online at www.co.tuscarawas.oh.us. Fees apply to online payments.

If you have not received your tax statement, please contact the Tuscarawas County Treasurer’s Office immediately. Failure to receive a tax statement does not eliminate responsibility to pay real estate taxes and penalties or interest accrued, in accordance with state law.

The treasurer’s office is at 125 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia. The telephone number is 330-365-3254. Its website is at www.co.tuscarawas.oh.us. The Tuscarawas County Office Building has a single entrance located off the courtyard on High Avenue. This entrance is secure, with a metal detector and sheriffs' deputies.
